New NFL Head Coaches

In the NFL off season 7 new coaches were hired. I wanted to go in depth with each coach on their new team.. In my opinion, I believe Hue Jackson is going to have his hands full with a Browns team who haven't been to the playoffs since 2002. It's going to be interesting to see how his coaching style plays out in Cleveland.

Cleveland Browns- Hue Jackson

Hue Jackson, is taking over a Cleveland Brown's team that hasn't been as successful as it could be. Like I have mentioned before they haven't been to the playoffs in over 13 years and I think if I were a player it would be frustrating not being able to get more victories and get to the playoffs.

However, there is positive feedback  from players on Jackson. According to Jeff Schudel of the News-Herald & The Morning Journal, he mentioned that players are excited with Hue. He has made an impact on them and the players are impressed with his attitude towards meetings and practices. Jackson.

Jackson was most recently the offensive coordinator with coach Marvin Lewis and the Cincinnati Bengals. The thing about Jackson I most like is he has experience with positions on defense and offense so I am anxious to see what changes he makes to the Browns organization.

He was the Head Coach for the Raiders for 1 season before being let go after an 8-8 season. The Raiders missed the playoffs after starting 7-4.

(On a Side Note)
Being a Head Coach is not an easy task. As a coach in my opinion you aren't only there to help the players to perform to their potential and get wins, you are there for the fans. They pay money to go out to support and watch the team and it's a good feeling when the team is playing well and because of that the coach can take credit for that.

Jackson has his work cut out for him but I believe this team can get wins and go to the playoffs this season and in his own words he said that "Cleveland deserves a winner".

San Fransisco 49ers- Chip Kelly

Here's a man that had a lot of success in college when he was the Head Coach over the Oregon Ducks. When he was there he had an overall record of 44-5, leading his team to 4 BCS appearances, including an appearance at the National Championship.

After the end of the 2012 season, Kelly was called to be the new Head Coach for the Philadelphia Eagles in January of 2013. Here's someone that took over responsibilities from former coach Andy Reid who unfortunately came off a 4-12 record with the Eagles. (Going off on a tangent I have to say Andy Reid is one of the most respected coaches that I have seen. He had been there for 13 seasons and it must have been hard to have been let go by a team that he had success with. Now he is with the Chiefs, with whom he was done very well with.

In the first season as head coach of the Eagles, Chip Kelly led the team to a 10-6 record which was a better turn around for the team after the past season they had a 4-12 record. The next season he led them also to a 10-6 record but unfortunately the team weren't able to get to the playoffs with those records.

Overall, in 3 seasons at Philadelphia Kelly coached a record of 26 wins and 21 losses. From rumours and things that I have heard Eagles personnel had a hard time working with him and I think many were relieved to see him gone.

Now Kelly goes to a 49ers team, which struggled offensively with the quarterbacks from last season. The question is whether or not he can be successful with the quarterback situation between Blaine Gabbert and Colin Kaepernick. Can he get them both on track and get them to be more accurate and effective with their passing? Time will tell as we will see in pre-season and from then on to the regular season.

Adam Gase- Miami Dolphins

Adam Gase has had a history with working with several different teams including the 49ers, Broncos, Lions, and most recently with the Bears as an offensive coordinator. In all of his duties he has had in it's been on offensive end. He's had the most experience with the Broncos working with former Broncos QB and current QB for the Chicago Bears Jay Cutler to future Hall of Famer Peyton Manning.

On NFL.com they mentioned that Gase has been well-respected with his work with quarterbacks. Ryan Tannehill,is a good quarterback but could Gase make him a great quarterback in the NFL? According to Gregg Rosenthal, the author, he said that if Tannehill can make lasting improvements then the hiring off Adam Gase will prove to be a great hire.

Dirk Koetter- Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Koetter, primarily coached in college football before he made the transition to the NFL. From 1985 to 2006 he was either the offensive coordinator or head coach to multiple college football teams. Ever since coming into the NFL he has served as the OC for the Jaguars, Falcons, and the Buccaneers. He now has the role of being the Head Coach of the Bucs.

He comes in having experience as a head coach in college. He previously was the Head Coach for Boise State and Arizona State. He had a winning record with both teams but his most success I think was with Boise State. With the three seasons he was there he compiled a record of 26-10 and led them with two Big West Conference Titles along with two bowl victories.

I think he will come in and do a good job. He already has a feel for the offense with Jameis Winston. We will see what he will do coming in for the fired Lovie Smith. I have to admit I wish they would have given Smith another season at least but I think Koetter can come in a do a solid job with what he has to work with.

Doug Pederson- Philadelphia Eagles

Pederson is another solid coach that I think will be a good coach for the team. He has been with the team previously as a player and also has coached with Andy Reid in Philadelphia and then left with him when Reid was hired as the Kansas City Head Coach.

Recently, a lot of talk has been on the quarterback situation, especially with Carson Wentz and the speculation with him redshirting this season which Pederson has had to deal with the media. Pederson said that Sam Bradford will definitely be the guy starting with  Chase Daniel being No. 2 and then Carson Wentz being No. 3. Then again, nothing is certain for sure. There's always rumours and speculation. It will be interesting to see how he handles the quarterback situation this season.

It's clear to say that Pederson will be the "offensive coach". But he also has the role of getting the defense to be better. Pederson did an excellent job with the hiring of Jim Schwartz. I think he's going to do good things with the defense. The Eagles recently signed Fletcher Cox to a conract extention. They are paying him big bucks so let's hope he can be the player to step up.

Overall, I think this is a good hire for the Eagles. I have always liked the Eagles especially with the teams they have in their division. The Cowboys, Giants, and the Redskins. A lot of talk is said again that the Cowboys will win the division this season especially with getting running back Elliot in the draft. It would be awesome if the Eagles are on top in the division with Koetter as their head coach.

Ben McAdoo- New York Giants

McAdoo comes in as the new HC of the Giants. He's also one of the youngest in the league. It will be interesting to see what happens with this team after the resignation of Tom Coughlin. McAdoo has a lot of talent on the team it's just last season they weren't able to finish on key plays.

McAdoo has been with quite a bit of NFL teams. He was with the Saints, the 49ers, the Green Bay Packers, and most recently was the OC for the Giants. He like Pederson worked in offensive positions. I

honestly don't know what to expect of McAdoo. There were quite a few people frankly that were unhappy with the hiring of McAdoo. He has quite of bit of offensive weapons to work with. Odell Beckham Jr. (of course) along with Victor Cruz getting back from an injury. Eli Manning needs to be more accurate with his passing.

Maybe he will defy the odds and surprise people. The defense definitely wasn't too bad but they weren't spectacular either. Spagnuolo needs to improve the defense this upcoming season. It's not fun when the defense is on the field more than the offense. It will be an interesting season to see McAdoo with the Giants.

Mike Mularkey- Tennessee Titans

And last but not least is new HC Mike Mularkey for the Tennesse Titans. The Titans only won 3 games last season. Hopefully Mularkey can improve upon those lossess and get more wins, just as long as he doesn't wins against the Colts.

Mularkey, hasn't been a new hire that everybody is excited about. Last season he came in as interm coach and finished the season off at 2-7. He has been with quite a few teams in the NFL including the Bucs, Dolphins, Steelers, the Titans of course, as well as being a HC at Buffalo and Jaguars.

He didn't have much success wiith Buffalo and Jacksonville so the pressure is on him to make this mediocre team into a great team. I don't really have any high expectations for him so don't expect the team to be #1 in the conference. It is all about patience. As long as he gets a few more wins then 3 the the GM will see that as a good sign in the future.
