NBA Finals 2015: Cavs vs Warriors
The first game of the series between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors was incredible. They went back and forth through out the entire game. In the first half it was all the Cavaliers. They played excellent defense and were able to keep the explosive offensive Warriors from scoring. It was very frustrating because they weren't playing like the team they usually have through out the whole season. They were not taking very good shots and had quite a few turnovers.
They couldn't stop Lebron James. He was on fire as he usually is. BTW side note I hate how all these people are comparing him to MJ. Every Hall of Famer is unique and different in their own playing style. That is just my opinion though. Anyways back to the game, Lebron was just playing the best he could possibly do and had some good help with players like JR Smith and Iman Shumpert. Tristan Thompson, another one of the Cavs players helped big time on defense. He wasn't good offensively but he sure made an impact defensively as well as rebounding. I was most impressed with Cavs big man Timofey Mozogov. He played very hard out there, offensively scoring 16 points (with some great dunks I should add) along with a block, 2 assists, and 7 rebounds. He is definitely a good asset that the Cavs should keep for a while.
Meanwhile, it all started to turn around in the 2nd quarter. Warriors seem to not play their best at the start of the game but then they come back and do good. They were down 14 points and came back to make the halftime score 51 to 48, with JR Smith making a 3 pointer at the buzzer. The 2nd half was very fun to watch. It was very close through out the whole second half. Lebron had a chance to win at the buzzer but couldn't get the shot to go in and it forced overtime.
The last 5 minutes were the best the Warriors had through out the game. They were able to force the Cavs to miss their first eight shot attempts during over time and their only score was with a few seconds left with a layup by James. The Warriors were the better team in the period and were able to triumph and win over the Cavs.
The sad thing though it Kyrie Irving, who played a great game for Cavs re injured his knee and the latest diagnosis is that he will be out for 3 to 4 months, causing him to miss the rest of the Finals. The Cavs are not haven't the best of luck of injuries. Kevin Love got injured earlier on in the playoffs and now they are without their point guard Irving. I wish them both the best recoveries and now the question is will Lebron be able to carry him team on his back and win the Finals. It will be interesting and I can't wait to see what happens the rest of this series.
